the second part does, yeah

actually I just realized that I have a story too:
I had just come back to this game after ragequitting in W3 about a month into W5... I found a nice island near a nice village to settle until i could find a good spot. Anyway, when I finally did move, the village's leader gave me a metal saw as a house warming present (before i built my new house too -for maximum utility) ^_^

fakeprofile wrote:I just recently started playing. After wandering around in the wilderness for a little while, I cam across an abandoned cabin by a river. I cleaned it up, started farming, and generally had everything going pretty well.

I eventually claimed it, but I didn't build a wall, because I was young and reckless. One day, a guy with a huge battleaxe sailed up to my claim and hailed me. He asked, in broken English, if I was Russian. I told him no. He then said "If I find out you are Russian I destroy everything here. Cut down on your nose." (?!?)

Guy was definitely russian, since it`s a literal transcription of a russian proverb "Заруби себе на носу" ("Make sure you remember") =)

For the most part raiders have killed the majority of the warm loving communities unable to defend themselves I'd say.

I'm fairly new here... But when I started, my friend really helped me (Malakai Nil). He helped me set up my place, gave me some items like armor and backpack and helped with advice and curios. So now I try to help out anybody that I can, although I'm cautious to not get killed.

The other day I found some run down cabin with no claim on it. The hearthling was sleeping inside with only a basket of beginning things, so I built a cupboad, and put in a bunch of meat, some leather goods, a descent saw, and a few little curios....

A bit of "pay it forward" if you will.....

I split off from a village and started my own claim on a beach so i could make glass. I was going down a river and i met a person who could speak english. He invited to come with him and we started trading and helping each other. After that someone sailed into my claim and started talking to me and asked if i needed any help. I was trying to build a kiln so he showed me a high quality vein of clay. so i help that small settlement and they help me.

Couple days ago I was hunting a boar, on foot

I had him in a spot where I could shoot him from the shallow water, but in essence I was kinda pinned down there since I was in combat and couldn't hearth away.

I saw someone in a bear cape boat up from the river, and expecting the worse started resigning myself to choosing my next characters name.

The stranger approaches and says 'need help?', relief surges through me. I inform him that I am capable, but it does take a while and I'm open to some assistance. He says 'ok' and leaves. Not sure what to make of it I continue my slinging of the boar.

The stranger boats back down with a weapon of his own (I guess he went to go get it) and helps me slay the boar. I loot the carcass and before hearthing back to my little shanty in the forest we say our goodbyes and memorize each other (I memorized him at least).

Fast forward a day or two, I notice someone is constructing a rather large palisade just south of my location. I walk down to investigate and as I step near enough a message pops up onto my screen 'This land is owned by ???'.

I assign names to those I've memorized to see who it is exactly. Walk back to the claimed land and this time the message is more descriptive; 'This land is owned by 'helped w/ boar'.'

Doesn't take but a couple of hours for me to run into him, working away on constructing his palisade. I greet him and ask if he remembers me, he does, we kin each other but it's late and I decide to go to bed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wake up the next morning and leave my log cabin. I notice something strange, the crates in front of my little wooded gate have been moved and one of them stored inside my boat. Again I fear the worse, I take the crate, and it's new contents, out of the boat and drop it back down. Open it up to find a slightly worn bear cape.
Let's see if H&H has more to offer than living by yourself in the woods :P
