Yea they are two unrelated thoughts. I personally try to talk to everyone I come across while out, unfortunately doing so got me killed.

Lol.

- I tend to keep a running distance from people, when I talk to them.
- I keep my finger over the teleport Key.
- As soon as they turn towards me, I teleport.

As for punishment, I remember when I had murder once-upon-a-time, and it is admittantly hard to disregard that power over others, when you've been wronged against.

bad idea. the hand over teleport is pretty useless tbh because if you port as they run at you then they are doing it wrong. you keep your enemy talking until the moment you attack right? if they are running at you you should already be in combat and not able to port. the best way to do it is move in random patterns if you are not sure of them. especially if they have a range weapon because it will tell you if they are aiming unless they use the aim bug..

if not it sorta helps you avoid being clicked on to a small extent..

I hadn't thought about that... The plan was to teleport out before they were able to get a shot off.

I'll just avoid people in the future...

Also, although Ravenguard is being a fool right now, he's a nice guy in-game. He gave me a shit tonn of wax/leather/hard leather/rope/skin, to help me finish my minehole a few days earlier than otherwise, so give him props for that? :D

lol. dont avoid them or you wont make friends and allies. just be uber carefull unless you are confident in your abilities, and even then tread with caution but try not to show it.

Ofc. I keep my distance from all people.

If they have a sword in-hand, you keep distance.
If they have a sling in-hand, they're likely pre-murder.
If they have a bow in-hand, keep away. Far away.

Well, they've just attacked one of my neighbours down the road, claiming it revenge against me.

Image

Anybody want to go on a hunt? A handful of pre-backpack newbies, up for the kill.

Edit;

One of my friends reports that the newbies have killed him... Yet he was logging in and out. Likely he was only KO'd, so they only have Rage. Still. I've had to herd everybody underground into my Mine... I knew I should of bought Rage, sooner.

Previously:

Villagers, out of the blue, report that people are attacking them. The villagers live about a minimap or two down the road from me (road, as in, a long straight stone-layed road, several tiles wide). They are shouting about revenge against Projeear - Screenshot from the villager in my previous post.

Stealing and vandalism on a non-claimed area, nothing you can do but sit it out... Then one of the villagers say they've been attacked, so I then herded these people into my claim and underground.

Alright so, after I herded everybody into my mine, I went out to fight them. I was confident that I would be able to fight them off if they attacked me, and that I could follow those scents afterwards.

I charged in, taunting them... they ran away. Le fu-.

Image

Image

After this, Raven logged on. He started coming to us, to investigate. They raiders were gone, so I let everybody out of the mine, and back to work (Reminds me of Age of Empires II, when you let Villagers out of the village center, heh).

I went down to the docks whilst Raven went looking for scents - only to see they had come back, only five minutes after teleporting away... so they're still in the area.

Raven comes running down, and I tell James that I want a one-on-one to end all this. One man against one man, good old duel, end of conflict.

He declines.

Image

I then trick him into coming close to the shore, declaim my own plot to emergency-draw up Rage, and...

Image

Image

Suddenly, he has a change of heart, and wants only peace. PEACE? He attacked defenceless fucking newbies, instead of looking for me directly. They could have had nothing to do with me, for all they cared. In fact, they even said the only knew of me (which was true for the fellow who said it, he is a friend of a friend).
Still, they didn't stop to listen, to the fact they might not of even known me. They wanted to loot and pillage, and used me as an excuse for this unguarded party of newbies, who admittantly had a bunch of baskets (20+) lieng around.

Anyway. To further support the fact that these Russians are, in fact, thieves...

Image

Q36 Boots on a newbie? I only recently got that kind of leather myself. Previously, as you can see in a screenshot, they hadn't even killed a fox yet.

Anyway, the ring-leader is dead, and the others dissapeared to the four winds. Hopefully, that's the end of things, but I highly doubt it. The others didn't seem as much wanting of death and destruction, admittantly, and I'm quite happy to let them go, and we split to our own ends. I'll make sure to tell this to them when they log on again.

However, I am making plans for bricks walls now, before they come across a righteous Russian ranger who they can twist the story to...
"Raiders attack us! They destroy everything! Then they kill my friend!!" etc etc.
