I would say game is in beta stage and we are beta testers. Anyway, alpha or beta, this game status takes too long and ppl forgot that everything they do now is just for making hnh better game. I think that devs forgot about that too giving gold bars or capes for more drama or other purposes not related with developing.
I don't care who use or don't use bugs, my village can be burn to the ground by some nasty tricks, I can loose my char by critical error. I wouldn't expect any gifts - I would be mad, but game is still in development and when I log in I accept this.

oh no, not that talk again, just grow up... you just wrote you didnt care, but sounds like you do care. honestly?

devs also know enough that "their testers" are having fun as well, and they had to show some appreciation for the efforts some players had put to hunt down the bug devs couldnt find. they could have abused a little so that nobody would realize and could have kept on pretending not knowing anything for a while as well, but they didnt.
we all know that jorb made that bug hunt thread right after the crash, none of AD said anything on the thread (and probably didnt outside the forums either) before it was finally discovered.

I'm still not convinced that operant conditioning is a bad thing -- in this case giving a non-consequential reward for a beneficial behavior. Everyone keeps flipping the fuck out that some players get a Wolf Cape while others don't. Maybe the conditioning just needs to be changed? Maybe the reward just needs to be universal. So we learn that everyone benefits from good bug reporting.
That sounds way too fucking optimistic and hoping for a lot. A big question then becomes what would constitute a worthy non-consequential global reward? This is assuming that JLo are willing to do any rewards at all anymore when they get back given how many and how big the shit-fits have been.

Perhaps if there existed just a list of global rewards that could occur from the fanciful to the exotic and the critical bug reporter had the privilege of choosing which one came into play.

I'm pretty sure bug abuse gets you banned on a shit tonne of games, why are people not banned for it on HnH?

Cool, you found a bug, but you are exploiting it for an unfair advantage over everyone else on the game = banned, you could argue it is the dev's fault for not patching it, but if you knowingly exploit it that seems like your fault, someone gives you a knife, do you stab someone just because you got the knife?

I think like burg said somewhere else, jorb gave the gold bar for fun, put stick into an anthill. His decision wasn't related with game developing. In my opinion ;).
I don't care if someone gets reward for finding bug or if he use bugs or not. I care about fixing bugs.

I would stab someone if someone gave me a knife if there was no punishment for it. Same thing applys here JLo has said they r not going to enforce banning bug exploiters, though they might just delete your character if its one of those imba exploits (Million LP gain bug).

This isnt a commerical game run by a company of 100+ staff with 24/7 GMs to watch over everything you all do. Its just an ALPHA game made by two college student in their free time.

TLDR: we are TESTERS and this game is ALHPA, dont like bugs? Too bad.

Meh, personal thoughts;

Lol if we are testers then why enforce any kind of punishment no matter how imbalanced it is? You can't be one or the other you either don't want people to abuse bugs or you do.

Bug abuse is justified as part of game development then this thread and any others like it are utterly pointless.

Or

The game is in a released stage right now, people abusing bugs are disrupting other people's fun with unfair gains therefore they should still be banned like any other game.

Also note people with 'moral' viewpoints against bug abuse are probably lolcows/scrubs and should just be ignored, because in the bigger picture you should abuse bugs even more than you already do to properly iron them out when the game reaches it's real release stage.

tl;dr; With the current way bugs are dealt with this thread is bad.

Was considering whether to post it or not but since I typed it out I may as well just throw out my plebeian opinion into the frying pan.

Yes, bugs do need to be thoroughly exploited so that we don't run into any snags or catches unaware of what's going on.
They also need to be reported so that they can actually be fixed. It doesn't do anyone any good if you know how a bug works inside and out and the devs are never informed so that they can fix it.

Drawing a line and defining what is bug abuse and bug research is fucking hard. It's a very grey area that involves thorough investigation, interrogation, and being psychic. It's a much easier course to allow alpha testers to abuse bugs they feel need to be abused and allow as much information to come to light as possible. It'd just be nice if that light was shared with the Devs so that it was constructive in terms of game development and the long-term.

Who would be enforcing this?
