A pair of noobs may beat each other with no gain.
Any veteran fighter that can train given noobs will kill them for lulz and drama and their pants perhaps.

And still i like this system in a strange s/m way.

What kind of nonsense is this? Are you complaining tht the system is based on the skill of a player more than just pure stats or a rng?
Then lets just replace the combat system with a game of rolling dice. Whoever rolls higher wins.

Yes it should take time to master this system. As DoG mentiones it is one of the few late game contents to constantly improve your fighting skills. Dataslycer didn't get a divine intuition and then wrote his guide (there exists an PvP guide that is far more advanced than the PvE on the forums). He stood at our idol four hour after hour, day after day always searching for someone to practice with him. It finally made him one of the most seasoned fighters and tacticians the game has. Guess what I saw him doing this morning? That is right, he was standing at our idol practicing. He was comparing cooldown ratios of several moves by the second to develop new combinations etc etc. That is the kind of dedication you are supposed to put into it if you want to get really good and it is much more of a personal satisfaction too. A simple click and hit depending on your skill number system we had in world 1 and 2 and it sucked, absolutely no personal skills involved there.

You can use your 'hours' more effectively , although it's 'harder', and get farther.

Gee, I`m stupid because I misspelled a name of a mighty Moderator. Also, because my first line is wrong (what?).
As you can see from the answers above, not so wrong. Plays longer - plays more HOURS basically. Equip, stats, skills, practice - more of every one of them. Hardcore gamers tend to band into groups, too.

Tonkyhonk wrote:how do you know "that is exactly why people are all for the open pvp" when you arent them? that is your mere "assumption" not the "fact"

It is a fact, as I know enough players who do (or did) compete on a worldmap scale (not sodomites though). I am pretty much aware of what I am talking about.
The only assumption here is that the goal of the hardcore pvp players are similar. Just.. read forum, posts of all the people you mentioned. Nao, Klaue, Portgas. Clever tactics only mean they will not go against someone they know equals them, it is only logical that the less people equal them, more fun they`d have killing everyone else.

Again, you are entitled to your opinion, but so far you refuse to understand what I`m saying. Insults do not make a dialogue, I`m not going to answer you further. Everything I had to say was already said.
Enjoy your game.

i`m not complaining and i really like the system itself. i don`t like players using it against me.

and i still think that the best armor in this game is a brick one. :)

seems like there is hardly anything left for me to say :P

but in case you didnt know, Grable, i am a casual player myself. (otherwise, i would have had a better security.)
i spend pretty much time on H&H, but i spend much more time talking, chatting, translating, explaining, and reading and writing on the forums, than playing game itself. and that is how i choose to have fun with this game for now. i have received several nice invitations from villages both in w4 and w5, but i declined all politely because i need to play casual to have my own fun for certain reasons. and i dont mind playing "meat". (but never silent!)

arriel,
misspelling is of course stupid when you are trying to criticize someone. not correcting it makes it even more so.
and if you still gripe over that you can NEVER stand up to players who are playing longer, after reading all the posts made here, then you are probably only looking at grapes out of your reach, saying "they must be sour, not worth my time".
if you are complaining that casual players cannot win against hardcore gamers, that is just bs, as others mentioned.
if you dont understand the difference between "fact" and "assumption", and have to call your assumption a fact, what more can i say to you? i refuse to be convinced by a flawed sentence like you have made. so far, you refuse to acknowledge your own mistakes in your argument. try to give a bit better counter-argument so that i need to think harder to reply back.

Ah, but don't take my comments as whining tho. I still have a lot of fun playing this game casually. Was just expressing my opinion on the game system. I'm not even hating the hardcore players.

I think the combat system is fine.. I do think that it is crazy that higher levels can find someone wandering by, givin the opertunity they can kill you with what little you worked for. idk A whisper to ears that dont listen is all

We listen, and we've been in that position. Hell I'm pretty weak now, my cows aren't done growing!

But the point is rather moot, because if you are protected from higher level players how hardcore is it really, newbies could grief easier than those who work hard, by staying under a certain threshold where older plays can't kill them.

Again, anyone can build a brickwall, and it's certainly the best defense.
