1) Steal from 1-2 supergrids away,

2) move all containers with the items you
want in them inside a house before leaving
any theft scents (Tresspassing scents will
decay fast and this lessens the risk of random
rangers)

3) put your hearth fire deep inside a cave
inside a small house, completely surrounded
by pallisade.

4) stashe stolen goods on an alt if you can't
create anything from them right away, if
you can wait out the scents on them, they're
100% yours.

5) do NOT give anyone else a key, when you're
in a life of theivery, you can't be sure of who
to trust.

6) Don't do it alone unless you have all the
steps covered (and possibly a brickwall, just
in case.)

7) After stealing from any seemingly large village
and/or settlement, please let your scents decay
before leaving your building, you can monitor your
scents by actually picking up your most recent and
serious scent to date.

Um, if someone stole clay from under the claim and built kiln/smelter/etc with it, will the scents still lead to the built structure? I never stole anything and do not intend to try, just curious :) And what is with "don`t leave a house" thing, you can`t trace someone if he`s not outdoors? Do caves count?

If you steal from a decent village, when you
step out of your house you'll be shot.

Building a kiln out of stolen clay makes it
appear as though the clay is no where to be
found.
