They are claiming the swamp. You can still do everything on your personal claim, and even forage from the swamp still, and who knows, maybe you can get to know some of the people when they go to the swamp. Offer them some beer or something, become friends.

dude, you can't build on swamps, they had to claim either side of it to claim it all. An I am not part of them, I am just offering you an alternative other than moving. They don't want your place, they want quick access to the swamp.
