Actually "pants" is a singular a plural noun, pant is a word for heavy breathing. You're right that are would indicate it as singular, but it's just a stupid meme. It can be confusing, but we normally put an pro-noun (I think that's it?) when indicating there's more such as,
"Wow, look at all those pair's of pants."
And the "All your pants are belong to us" statement would be grammaticaly correct in, "All of your pants belong to us."
