My pearl hunters claim the number averages close to 1 pearl per 50 mussels. Wiki says 1 pearl per 100 clams last I remember.

I think the devs even said in the Announcement thread that it was 1%. Too lazy to find that now though.

In a long term, even if you cook 10 cbs and 0 pearls, you will just get 3 from next CB. Its prooven so many times that bad luck is present, but after 5000 mussels you'll have similar amount of pearls as averyone else, +- some luck based
