well, i don't think that really makes sense, but thanks for recommending
i would say the value of a merchant is defined by the profit he makes. any other thing is not him acting as a merchant, strictly.
but maybe this is a question of definition. meh.
also, if you believe in the whole capitalist thing, a merchant making the most profit for himself is what eventually helps people out the most.
