The effort it takes to make and maintain a giant coop factory for the sake of a golden egg, I have found a gold node already. In otherwords, it's a bonus (albeit a rare but really nice one) not a means.
An enemy will only fight if he believes he either has a chance to win, or you've backed him into a corner and he's fighting for his life. A completely crushing victory provides an enemy with neither.

but yeah, just a random chance for newbies to get gold. wonder if it gave discovery.

It gives discovery. It could be used in recipes as a gold nugget. It couldn't be used in recipes as an egg.
I won't study it, I want to sell it. I will never know what LP it gives. And I don't want to calculate learning time.
