Considering your average node gives only 4-5 bars and the nodes themselves are rare and finite, it's not that ridiculous to ask for 450 of an infinite resource. This isn't W3 anymore.

Yes, those rings are by far the most valuable item in this game, along with pearl necklaces.

You're still not gonna get anywhere near 450 clay. So what if it's infinite? It's still by leaps and bounds *the* most important resource in the game, and demand for q80+ will *always* exceed supply.

In terms of clay, this offer will be up another week and if I don't have a better offer I'll accept the current trade I have. Keep in mind the offer in my OP can be negotiated down. Even if you can't beat the offer I have going now, it's worth a shot.

I really hate to continue with the derailing of this trade thread, but there's something to be said for resource denial. People have hinted at it, but here's the in depth explanation:

It's true that a gold vein is rare, but it is not nearly as rare as a Q80 clay node. I've heard rough estimates of 5-15 Q80+ clay nodes existing per world. Now the people who own those nodes theoretically speaking can deny other people access to them. Due to the nature of clay effecting the Q of so many valuable goods (even the quality of any metal they end up smelting) they can use this as an advantage. True, they could get very large short term benefits by trading it; but in the long run the *real* benefit is either selling the better Q goods over time or using those goods to back up your military muscle (and raid loot or just plain protect your assets). By denying other people access to the clay, they keep this advantage permanently.

Gold on the other hand can be aqcuired through determined exploration of the sublayers. It may take 1-2 months if you don't get lucky, but it's doable. You can't make a Q80+ clay node appear for you in any way other than fighting for it if you figure out that someone has it. That or trading hideous amounts of resources for it since the towns who DO have it will be keeping it for themselves.

TLDR; People are justified in valuing Q80 clay above your gold. However, not everyone agrees with this valuation. They may believe that others will start trading Q80 clay eventually and their competitive edge will be lost regardless. As such, they should take what trades they can while the value is highest and reap the benefits themselves. Little bit of game theory there.
