Starting up copper mine, but rock too hard. Anything?

I posted on How Do I and I was told to try here.

With mid 50 strength (including bear cape and necklace) the rock in the mine is 'much too hard' for me to break.

I have pumpkins on farm, which will eventually lead me to be strong enough. A tool better than a quality 10 stone axe would also help.

Anyone have better stone axes or picks for trade? I'm not sure what I can get for you in return though.

dude check the apples and oranges section, theres half a dozen threads that sell nice q pickaxes/hand axes and post what you can gather for the trade.
