wouldn't that work?

There's no way of enforcing a client when it's all java based and easily decompiled/modified plus i personally love the custom clients since it gives the opportunity to change the UI around to the way I wish it to be :3 and some other added neat stuff that should of been there before.

yeah I used to use 3-4 candles for mining helmets when mining in WV world 2 before Warrri told us about night vision in pacho's client.

Obviously not, thought it's not a matter of Java vs. other languages. As long as the server sends the information to the client, someone will always be able to recover and display it in some way. Trying to forbid modified clients is just an exercise is pointlessness. The recording/movie industry's ridiculous misconception that this is at all possible is what gave rise to the monstrosity that is DRM.

+1 to OP.

i dont like the fact that everyone uses clients, theres no point in even having a nigh/day time if everyone just uses nightvision, and though X-ray saves lives from animals, it ends them when a noob dosnt have it and thinks he is safe afk'ing behind a rock.

default client all the way

i want torches to have a use :)

You're free to use the default client and all the torches your heart desires. Other people using custom clients does not affect your gaming experience...

i never said that they did, simply that it would be nice if everyone was on the same ground, because it brings back several aspects of the game like, as has been mentioned, the sneaking, hiding, actually having to look around your environment, instead of one person saying "i should be right here unless someone walks behind this large mansion"

and another person saying "i can see straight through that mansion as if it were nothing"

why dont you broaden your perspective a bit, and accept the fact that not everyone thinks along the same lines as you, not everyone thinks the exact same things as you would be good.
what you see as "ignorant walls of text" are ideas different to your own, that you fail to comprehend and acknowledge simply because it is not your way of thinking.

it is simply the diversity in thinking and literature.

1. a fire weapon, obviously (subtext: you are an idiot)
2. special attacks that require torches
3. a stat buff from light or warmth
4. scaring animals viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1038
5. bonus to destroying objects

two minutes worth of thought that you didn't trouble yourself with
