It may be a step forward, but I also see it as two steps backwards. To me it just reads as a last minute band - aid solution with little consideration into the other aspects of the game.

you can run like fuck and die instantly when you get caught, or you can try to fight back and probably die anyway because aggressors usually come in huge parties.

Why? Combat has been this way for a long while now.

I think this game is seriously lacking in the crowd control department and that should be an obvious solution to fast travel.
Add a cast-time to hearthing and make people stunable during that cast-time. Would be cool.
Also, crowd control would kind of work well against "movement kombatz", or probably add another dimension to it.

I agree with you Astarisk it was a band aid fix and it was already mentioned that the point of the auto hearth mod was not because we are killing people but because client modification is out of hand and I support that. BUT... I feel this is a better fix then everyone having auto hearth. I now have a motivation to continue playing and testing waiting for some more permanent fix's, rather then just abandon the game.

What alg did was nothing but show the flaws and broken mechanics already present in the game. Fixing something like this this late in the game just deepens the problem. Your providing a major change and it seems to lack consideration for the party that may end up being chased. I got no qualms against removal of fast travel and the likes, i'd just prefer if it was done at the start of a server. (Though this isn't removal of fast travel, I thought I'd just state that).
