Has "Trying to logon to a character that's in a bed" (probably any bed) a familiar ring in this case ?
(Something I seems to have some trouble with, although I have not fingered out the trigger.)

Deleting the belt file helped fix it temporarily but it's started again :/
Also for some reason if I log on any new character they automtaically get that guy's belt, and it saves it as belts_.conf

This belt problem might be if you relogin without closing client.
