Are you serious? Every single thing a person does affects the I/O of the HDD, from loading areas (going inside a house) opening cupboards , herbal tables, inventories ect ect. Every single time 1 client requests a new object there is a I/O request sent. 10 bots running loops , opening doors, cupboards , moving around unrendered areas causes I/O interaction with the HDD hence putting more stress on the HDD and using more resources. Java is notorious for having issues like this including massive piles of objects (logs, signs) laying around eating up RAM.

Don't post ignorant bullshit defending your bots.

I have started formulating a scheme to isolate the game server from such problems, however. With some hope, I'll have time to implemented once we've gotten the Salem alpha rolling.

Now eat your words, piss-ant.

The server runs off of Java, the clients written in it.

The server may be a mix of Java with something custom or w/e. But it definitely has some form of java characteristics. Especially the I/O issues.

Well lets see most likely the server is run on a linux box and the wiki and paq both say the game is developed in Java C and Paintshop Pro

Haven and Hearth is an indie game developed using Java, C and Paintshop Pro, which is renowned for its stunningly beautiful 2D graphics. In addition to the lush 2D environment, the gameplay is very out-of-the-box in comparison to mainstream MMORPGs.

I can't play it. What's wrong?
The game client is written in Java and you might have to install the JRE manually (follow the link)

Im not going to argue with you my friend, you seem very headstrong which im just pointing out the obvious. The game has Java in it. Im going to assume you don't code but are a forum moderator. I have very little coding experience, took C+ in college as well as HTML. So I will stand by my statement, having a client written in Java would require a server to utilize Java as well. I will not follow up with DERP or another derogatory/negative statement , its just my type of way to communicate something im trying to gain clout/credibility for.
