That is not quite true, and is greatly over simplied.

The two are hardly related  Even in the sense that you mean it.

You're all very well experienced and what not so your probably right, but IMO it would take a very good runner to actually have the upper hand, as they have so many more things to worry about than the attacker, or most of the time (supporting my point) attackers.

The runner has the advantage for reasons i'm not even gonna get into if they can fight back. Not getting into it cause im just gonna get oddity in here with his "lolmovementkombatdoesntexisturdumb" talk

I do think the runner should have the upper hand as they have so much more to lose if the fail the chase (which is why i like it how it was before the 10 second hearth time, if you ask me it should be 3 seconds, 5 seconds tops delay as a bandaid fix to this autohearther. 10 seconds is really excessive).

Correct you probably are, which is fundamentally one of the best ways we have of discovering flaws and/or bad mechanics. If it weren't for botting the old LP system would probably still be in there, sucking all the while but with no one there to point it out to us.

... except maybe Jackard. He would still know.

is this commenting on my being loud and obstinate? or that weve been using macros and custom clients to gain an edge since world one

i wonder if i am the only one here who feels that attackers will always have the advantage in an open field/open water situation. to the guy who posted earlier that 50% of the time he chases, he loses his prey. with some exceptions such as a lucky boat find, i really don't see how that can be possible - i have never once, in either side of the situation, seen a runner lose agro in open field. i've never lost a runner, and as a runner, i've never escaped.

of course auto-hearthing and auto-agro and the like are things that should be avoided and corrected, but i've often wondered if we need to take a closer look at exactly how the agro system works.

with all of the talk about "auto-hearth" and "auto-agro" and auto-this and auto-that, let's talk about another auto-game mechanic that maybe has never been really examined?

namely clicking on the portrait gives the attacker an exact bearing on their target. not only that, but will run straight to them. i wonder if this "auto-chase" is really balanced. of course i expect people to chime in here with "oh but you can use trees and swamps and terrains and drop signposts and blah blah blah to your advantage to get away", and to an extent this is true, but i am quite comfortable in saying that in most times in a land chase scenario, winner is the one carrying the most and highest q water.

what if stealth played a role in chasing vs. running? what if instead of clicking on the portrait to auto-target the runner, we got a tracking pie to show in which direction they went? think about it, with the client mods such as hearthling radar, (yes i am aware that the radar has been around a long time now, just not publicly available until recently) removal of fast travel (which i think we can all agree is needed) will give people exactly ZERO chance of escaping from an encounter. it's probably unlikely that the game could evolve to get rid of these radars (it's been shown that if J&L took away our minimaps, players would be able to replace them).

removal of auto-hearthing was a good thing, but maybe it's time to think as well about some of the mechanics that made people come up with it in the first place.

You should remove this as I advised you to in another place I think. In an odd way this script brings back at least a little balance.

@BMJ: Cannot believe how biased and narrow-minded you have become. Your support for this game is none and makes things worse, because you only have your personal entertainment in mind and have completely lost focus on game balancing etc.
On top of that you are spewing hate at people who have tested (yes, that is the thing you never did) the game enough to get to the conclusion it is quite broken right now and needs fixing. Since that isn't done right now they are not playing. This has nothing to do with aimless hate from Avus or whomevers side as people like you or Tonky always want to make others believe. This is a correct assessment of the game and you simply cannot see it since the brokenness caters your personal play style and that of a few others which again then create a more suiting environment for you.

When I hear this nonsense about "This wasn't designed to be a no-PvP game...blabla" then I can only laugh. Who is writing your arguments? This was much much more not designed to be a PvP game. PvP in this game is a matter of punishment and of retribution. We are thrown into this game in the so called "Natural State" as being defined by Thomas Hobbes whom you might or might not know. In that state physical violence might be acceptable, but as per game design we are quickly evolving past this state into a state of society which also makes the "contrat social" (Jean-Jaques Rousseau now) emerge. The game is meant to be a social simulation and not some barbarians beating each others heads in. Although that can be a part of the game it should not be the end of it.

Argueing this game was designed for PvP is laughable at best and if you are interested in sportsmanlike skill competitions in computer games then you have the choice among thousands of others games designed for that. One however was not: Haven and Hearth.

Edit: Suggesting to remove Avu from IP who has been nothing but a motor for advancement in this game (and Jorb knows how to filter the valid points through the hate), because you are personally not agreeing to his opinion shows just how right I am that you are not here to improve the game, but to give you some lulz out of beating helpless players up. A shame to read such things from you, but inevitable when you got no real arguments other than "But I wanna"
