I run 1600x900 resolution just fine; but it isn't actually fullscreen, it's a maximized window.

Yes ... I run on 1920x1080, which is 16:9, while 1024x768 is 4:3.
That means, if I play on 1024x768, everything appears stretched and deformed.

Playing at an higher resolution it's quite an advantage in this game, since you can see a lot farther and you have more screen space for game windows ( I keep the inventory always open ).
Are you sure you're using Gilbertus' client? You can resize the window on the fly, but just dragging the corners, as you're used to in windows. So yes, you can drag it up to 1920x1080, minus your start bar perhaps. Don't use the ingame fullscreen mode, it's buggy.
Combine this with panorama camera and you're set.

I think you overlooked this post:

Sharie wrote:Because I use "the borderizer" cam and I can't scroll toward up or down if I'm not in fullscreen.

I can't use most of the other cam modes because my middle mouse button is set, as system wide option, on "close application", as I find it quite handy.

Of course it's a shame to play in fullscreen at whatever resolution it is set to ( 1024x768? ), while I have a monitor that can support far more than that and it has a different aspect ratio.

Actually I did see it. The panorama cam does not use the middle mouse button at all, and works in every resolution, be it fullscreen or not. Seems ideal for his case, imho.

If there is no way I can set up the fullscreen resolution, then I guess I don't have much choice, thanks all for the tips.

Check your firewall settings?

The exact way the files were downloaded are working fine for my win7 32-bit and XP 32 bit.
