Not sure if anyone is still here to help, but I am trying to get back into the game with a new computer. I have tried with both Enders and Ark_su client and failed frustratingly.

My computer runs Windows 8 and my Java is 32 Bit so I have been trying to run that version of Enders. At first I got the cannot locate Javaw error, which I fixed by editing the run.bat with the proper path. Now when I attempt to run, it all looks wonderful for about exactly one second before closing its self and not running the Haven client. In other words "help plox"

I poked around a little and figured out that I had mislabeled my Java pathway with a jre6 instead of the jre7 that it is. That and I needed Java not Javaw.

If I remember it correctly

If your run folder contains a java your game opens with the console. javaw with w doesn't open the console. But both of them do run the client without any problems.

Example with console:
java -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar haven.jar moltke.seatribe.se

Example without console connecting to the game but with a ghost console in the background:
javaw -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar haven.jar moltke.seatribe.se

Example without console completely:
start javaw -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -jar haven.jar moltke.seatribe.se

Hope this helps but I'm sure you already know this.

It was not running when it was pointing to jre6, because it turns out I didn't have that folder. Also isn't it Java for 32 bit and Javaw for 64 or are they exchangeable? I currently have it pointing to Java.exe and it is working.

Sorry borka I think you know all this stuff much better then I do, was sorta directing it to Kurundo. :D

I should probably let borka explain this better.

I think javaw means java window and opens a window and not runs the game in the console on both versions 32 bit or 64 bit. Java opens the game directly and along comes the console. The actual fix was most likely in the jre6 vs jre7 paths you had fixed.

That was most definitely one of the biggest problems, non-existent folder and all. And I don't know much about Java but when I was frustrated and was reading through help threads most of the time it seemed that when people did example code for 32 bit they did Java and for 64 bit they did Javaw. *shrug* maybe that was all coincidence.

Korundo it's the other way round "normally": javaw on 32Bit, java on 64Bit - i'm not sure about something changed that with java updates so both work equal...or it's win8  (on win7 it's "normally" like above) or me getting everything wrong :?

with 64Bit Win8 you might grab the 64Bit Java (different install folder and thus path) and 64Bit Ender (- no probs to have it besides Java 32Bit and Ender 32Bit -) pro with 64Bit is that it can use more of available memory

btw. new Java update today - see my HDI Java thread

""C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xms256m -Xmx512m -jar haven.jar moltke.seatribe.se" That is my working code right now.
