It's quite annoying because people have been sailing by recently, and I lag out before I can ascertain their intentions.

can be a problem with your connection too? I just had interactions with another player without any lag and i'm on a slow 3G/UMTS connection...

Other causes might be : not enough system or graphics memory free...

Something's wrong with my client - whenever I turn it on, it overheats my computer, after 5-10 minutes the monitor freezes, goes black, and then goes back to normal displaying a graphics error. It does kill Ender, though, and any web browsers on. My graphic card is AMD Radeon HD 4690. Pretty sure this is exclusive to Ender - I had this problem before, always when computer was under a lot of pressure and heat.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a Notebook...guess you should read out graphic temps with a tool like http://baltagy.blogspot.de/2013/03/aida ... table.html

and check fans for dust...

sound like the problem i had whit the newer version, my fps was crashing and my system fan was running like crazy, at some point the game was freezing, was able too hear sound but no moving, happy i was not the only one.

too fix the problem i took an older ver of ender i had on my laptop, fix it for me... but its still an older ver

p.s. im not on a note book im on a tower so, i think it can happen anywhere

Yeah, I forgot to tell you - I bought a new fan and cleaned the entire guts of this dv6 pavilion beast - it works like a charm now Thanks for the help, borka.

I keep disconnecting from the server after 5-7 minutes of playing. I tried on Ender and vanilla client, it's the same thing. My internet is quite stable with a speed of 70mb/s and a ping of ~6ms, so that's out of question. Anyone knows how to fix the disconnections?

there could be various reasons: Firewall / Routersettings / AV / Proxysettings

Ports used: TCP 1871 UDP 1870 - make exceptions in Firewall

You might also try with different settings in Java Control Panel -> General Tab -> Networksettings
