You should get wolfang to try making one.

I really liked his other haven and hearth video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsKftj2Q6rg

I can't speak for Jorb, but I wouldn't mind replacing the front-page video with a user-made video per se. That said, there are certainly problems with trying to make it a "competition"; we'd have to set a deadline, after which we'd have to choose one of the submissions regardlessly of quality, and I don't particularly like the prospect of that.

As for Wolfang's video, I certainly enjoyed watching it, but let's just make it clear that it isn't trailer material at all. First of all, it's too personal, and it's also far too "epic" for my taste. Secondly, it's too lacking in quality; it's just a sequence of still images, the pacing is a bit weird, the video and audio are poorly encoded, and the font doesn't look particularly good either, to be honest.

this is not the sort of thing you make a poll for, or you would end up with crap like wolfang's video on the front page. the decision should rest solely with the devs

Just make it an open ended thing and every time you find a new one that you either replace the front page with or add somewhere else then give that person pink hair or a cloak. Just make a sticky in the Inn or something.

Edit: Also is this in the right forums?

I thought my post would have made it clear that that's pretty much how it is. :)

Next time I get a week off work, I shall work on this. :)

I may need a new PC to handle running the screen recorder, though. My laptop is a processor beast, with a terrible graphics card. Turning Land Claims visible nearly crashes me :P
