come across someone while hunting, foraging etc auto hearth and anything left in your boat is lost, as well as you being back to home all because of linen noob. The red option has a little more sense, but where's the fun in running from someone you know will kill you, why not turn and kill them

Because everyone in this game is to scared of anything even near a fair fight, they will autohearth. I could careless if little noobs autohearth away, it's more the fact that if im tracking someone from say, winterfell (they might not use it, that remains to be seen), the moment i get close, they're gone. So yes, everyone will download it, and the game is pretty much broken.

What's the big commotion? Anyone who is paranoid enough to enable auto-hearth would have hearthed anyway as soon as a stranger appears.
It's not like the one second of additional reaction time a human has makes much of a difference.

It actually does. People pretty much just added a pvp flag like world of warcraft has.

The way the game is currently set up it's completely possible to circumvent PVP like this. Since it's possible to do, then everyone should have the ability to do it. "Level playing field" just refers to putting everything out there so that everyone has access to all the little modded features available. Since auto hearth is already possible it would be unfair for one group of people to have the option but others to not.
