It actually isn't a virus, its a known bug in an unpatched version of Mass Effect 2.
Here were the patchnotes for version 1.01 of ME2:
- Code: Select all
- Fixed an issue where the Mass Effect 2 launcher was being associated with files that have no extension.
Patching the game fixes the issue. Here is a link to the patch download page: http://social.bioware.com/page/me2-patches
It is also possible to fix this manually, but I'm not going to link that. I have a feeling your PC would explode if you tried it.
