the updater file is what you are supposed to use to update the client.
what i referred to is "updater.jar" to run the client, which is - or at least was, available the last time i downloaded it.
old ender used "run.bat" to run the client, but ender himself later changed it to run it by "updater.jar" so that the client updates itself every time you run it.

I've tried opening the Updater Java file with "Java Web Start Launcher" and got the following message:

Error: The following required field is missing from the launch file:
<jnlp>

there's two tabs below it the first is labeled "Launch File" and is exceedingly long so I wont write down what it says here to keep the forum neat, the second tab is labeled "Exception" and reads:

MissingFieldException[ The following required field is missing from the launch file: <jnlp>]

at com.sun.javaws.jnl.LaunchDescFactory.buildDescriptor(Unknown Source)

at com.sun.javaws.Main.access$000(Unknown Source)

I don't know what this means, the normal client is running fine so I know Java JRE is installed properly.

Opening with any of the other programs labled "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary" leads no results at all other than the occasional black window popping up or even less, just the loading wheel for a split second.

there doesn't seem to be any "updater.jar" file, the only similar thing is the "update_jar" file, I've tried opening it with "Java Web Start Launcher" and got the same message, I don't know what other program to use the others that read "Java(TM) Platform SE Binary" do nothing.

a few things you can try.
1. clear cashe.
2. re-install your java, sometimes the files are corrupted.
3. re-install ender.

Yeah ok, thanks It's working now, I deleted everything and downloaded it all again I think the problem was in the file I originally downloaded from Ender as everything is working fine now, thank you.

Are you for real? Read further into the same sentence.

EnderWiggin wrote:To install client you need to download updater. Download it and put into some folder. Then run this file - it will download client and all require files to that folder.

well it says found, downloading and unpacking - so there are updates - normally they'd be in the folder where you running the updater.jar from ... if they're not there i suggest creating a new empty folder named Ender (on desktop or in root c:\ ) , drop updater.jar into and run it ... you then might copy all downloaded files into exsisting folder by overwriting

Didn't seem to work for me, sadly. Is there any up-to-date 'ready to launch' Ender's client? Because right now i'm playing on a very old version where it is impossible to expand your claim.
