@ Nummy
There is a "dows.res" in the latest update. The file is located at "\HnH_ApocLite_x64\res\gfx\fx\". Check if this file was properly copied over. If it still causes crashes then I must have done a mistake uploading the wrong file.

If the bug persist after updating the file then please report back.

I'm using 32 bit version of client and I have only dowse.res file in this folder...

P.S.: I downloaded 64-bit version and it's the same... only dowse.res file there and all causes crash.

The "dowse.res" found in "\HnH_ApocLite_x64\res\gfx\fx\" or "\HnH_ApocLite_x32\res\gfx\fx\" got an update in the latest client update and it looks identical to the old one. The file needs to be copy pasted into the client. It needs to be updated with the one found in the latest client update. If you did this and it still caused the crash then I might have uploaded the wrong file. But when I test it on this end it oddly works perfectly fine making me think you might have missed updating that particular file.

What's the difference between old and update one and how is it different from default haven-res one ?

@ramones check whether it's in .haven\cache too - then rename there (sometimes they seem to collide - got that with hunting.res in Ender with mvgulik haven-res)

The original one is scent to the client from the server as it doesn't exist in the haven-res.jar, it contains the code needed to do the dowsing animation. The 2nd version is found in the Ender client as Ender added that nifty feature where the dowse arrow stays permanently around till you close the small window that shows up during tracking. Because of that small edit his version differs from the one sent to the client during res updates. This version I basically removed all the code on the dowse.res and moved it to the haven.jar, forced the client to use the data that is hard coded in the haven.jar that is easier to compile and do modifications on. I did that to be able to edit the bugs that was linked to the tracking. I think there was a better way to do it but I didn't know how to make it happen at the time and I got sick of trying to figure out how to prevent the client for using the dowse.res data instead of the hard coded data. I basically made the client forcefully use the hard coded data by feeding it an empty dowse.res file.

I have to be honest about the code found in all res files. Its the easiest and most stealthy way to infect someone with a keylogger. You can easily hide keylogger data in public res images that people seldom check. You could easily spread faulty res images that ends up on even Ender client that can keylog or do other malware kind of action. I think it would be wise if all res data was hard coded into the client instead of having them sit in the res files.

Just for the sake of eliminating all possible doubts and bugs.
Are you running the latest version?
What procedure did you use to install the latest update?

I don't understand why this would cause crashes on some clients but not others.

I downloaded update and copied all jar files inside. I keep my all res folder from previous version as I'm using some Daji's graphics files.
