Greywand's Overly Ambitious Reskin Project

Postby Greywand » Sat Jan 22, 2011 3:41 am

Hi everybody. I always find it helps me get into a game if I can really modify my character, which takes more work in some games than in others. I started by making my character for the inventory screen, and soon my fellow villagers were clamoring for the same treatment, so the project began in earnest.

I know the guys aren't looking for any more content or partners, so this one is strictly for fun. So far, I'm just making my own skins for how the character appears in the inventory, starting with male characters. I'm in debt to everyone in this thread: http://www.havenandhearth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5853, but I still need some help.

Mainly, I'm trying to figure out how the different equipment clips so I can make sure everything works right. This is what I had worked out from http://havenandhearth.wikia.com/wiki/Equipment_Screen, from top to bottom:

1L - (Hats&hoods), 8R (Shoes), 4L&R (Tools and Weapons) Seem to be on top of all other slots, relation to one another unknown
6R - (Backpack and Quiver)
3R - (Belt)
6L - (Robes and Cloaks)
2R - (Top Shirt and Armor)
2L - (Bottom Shirt)
7R - (Top Pants)
7L - (Bottom Pants)
8L - (Back of Cloaks)

Unknown:
1R - (Necklace/Mask/Pipe)
3L - (Gloves)

And the 5-slot (rings), are invisible.

But then, I noticed in TheTrav's pic that his toga appears to be under his armor, which throws off my order, so I should probably try to nail this down more concretely before I do more work that I'll just have to undo later. It might be item-by-item, in which case this will take more work than I'd thought.

Here's some of what I have finished so far:

Image

It's all Roman- and Greek-themed, and I'll be replacing things like glasses and top hats with more period items.
A. Dragon Helm, Plate Armor, Bronze Sword
B. Soldier's Helm, Chain Armor
C. Bronze Armor, Bronze Helm, Bronze Sword
D. Hirdsman's Helm, Cutthroat Armor, Necromancer's Cape, Rabbit Shoes
E. Bear Cape, Leather Pants, Mustache, Rabbit Shoes
F. Lawspeaker's Hat, Lawspeaker's Robe, Sandals
G. Ranger's Cloak, 'Javier' face
H. Phrygian Cap (replacing 'Cylindrical Hat'), Merchant Robe, Plate, Clogs
I. Fox Hat, Hide Robe, Rabbit Shoes
J. Druid's Helm, Leather Armor, Leather Pants, Leather Boots
K. Straw Hat, Linen shirt, Linen Pants, Sandals
L. Chieftain's Hat, Toga, Sandals

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Nice work.
It is worth noting, that players tend to wear clothing based upon the resources they have available and the bonuses the clothing provides. For this reason, leather armor is usually worn with a boar tusk helmet or a bear cape, druid helm is often worn with chain mail, merchant's robe leather pants and vap are usually worn with everything.
