'App' Request

Postby DatOneGuy » Tue Jun 14, 2011 5:07 am

I was wondering if anyone would be interested as we have a few programmers here in two apps:
1)A 'simulator', basically being able to test how anything will look ingame, without needing to waste the vast amounts of time building it to find out you don't like it. Will help a lot in village planning/building. Can be very basic to start and what not, walls, floor tiles, buildings, idols, that sort.

2)An FEP calculator, should work for two purposes:
A)Testing how much food you need to reach a certain level (i.e. How many BBC from 100->400 STR?)
B)Testing how many of a stat you can get with a certain amount of food (i.e. How many STR can I get from this BBC?)

Obviously with mixed food this will be fallible, so it should have options for 'Consider max'/'min', or 'perfect ratio'.

If no one does it I understand, I'd try myself but I have no idea where to start in programming either. No experience or nothin'. :V

I second this motion.

I like both of these ideas. Would be cool if you could also test equipment (yes, like armors and helmets) appearance in the simulator, too. :)

If there is no such data on client side, it can do only loftar.
As I know, fep comes from server so you can just hardcode numbers and if something will be changed redo all work.

The simplest route would probably be parsing the wiki's FEP table into a working dataset when the app is launched (or using a cached version in case the wiki is down). Hard-coding is evil and should only ever be used as a last resort. :geek:

Wiki sounds suitable, or some other list that can be upkept if there is something 'better'. (Iunno XML? Things like this are why I can't do it, I got no idea )

Something that would be doable is simply extracting out the images, then using an image editing program to rearrange the items and objects you want to a grid.

Certainly doable, but very... barbaric way of doing it. :s A snap to grid sort of feature would be most awesome, with the option to move it around after the fact. For walls moving them around also leaves SO much room for human error it's not funny.

While we're at it, why not a resource viewer that will manage what extras you have and be able to show the comparisons between default?
