Tavs Offset Renaming Script for Client Made Map Tiles

Postby Tav » Wed Jun 15, 2011 10:29 pm

Hi,
Apologies if a tool like this already exists - I searched and searched but could not find one. So I knocked this one up. Saved me loads of work. You might find it useful.

Basically, for those times when there is a crash and you are mapping with Enders (or Gilbertus I suppose, or whatever) client. The next session the tiles are re-zeroed and so offset from the old session.

This is a Python script that will enable you to, once you have worked out the offset, easily rename all the tiles of a session to match those of another session.
You can then merge the sessions.
It has a basic GUI for those CLI Scaredycats. There is more info in the readme.

WARNING!! This script batch-renames files It will happily rename thousands and thousands. Be careful, work in a temp directory, Practice with it a bit until you know exactly what it does. Back stuff up and read the readme first.

Linkage:- http://sourceforge.net/projects/hnhmapoffset/files/

You will need to have Python installed for it to work, but it should work in linux and windows at least.
I am not promising to update or maintain it, or respond to feature requests. I know it is very basic. But it perfectly does just what I want and I have found it very handy. So there ya go - it would have been negligent of me not to share it. It is GPL so anyone can change it how they like.
Tv.
