Aurochs

Postby Fridge » Thu Dec 01, 2011 3:54 pm

I am currently in progress of trying to make the sprites for the Auroch look a little less like a giant, hairy spider. I am posting here both for some outsider critique and help, because I am still uncertain about many aspects of editing files in this game, so I look forward to hearing of any ideas.

So far I have all the stationary sprites done which is where I was going to stop before I totally invest my time and animate it too. I am also considering to use this as the base for both a bull and cow in future if it works the way I hope it does and if people like what I am doing I might move on to other animals too. I intended for the Auroch to be black or in similar color to what a real one would be but I figured for the sake of keeping it recognizable and not being too demanding and contrasting to the other images I would use a subtle purple. The only problem I feel I have with it is the fact that it doesn't quite look as though the Auroch has fur which I may work on more, hence my post on the forum.

Enough of the boring stuff it's image time.

when he's from back, his legs suddendly grow long.

Anyway, add more fur on his skin (some line to make understand that he's fur, not naked)

Oh. What about the animation? You'll remove the lolly rolling foots of jorb animation? So sad ò.ò

How would you suggest to fix this?

Yes I intend to fix this but I am going based off of the paintings and information here and from an animal atlas I have, which contains bovine, so I am unsure of where this notion that they are super hairy like mammoths is coming from.

I plan to make the legs shorter and yes I am hopefully going to be able to have it not walk like it is falling over all the time.

Thanks for the reference. I could try making sillier versions of the animation if I remember to do so later.

Here is a quick edit I have made to see if I am heading in the right direction to make them look hairier.
