It's actually quite funny. Alg, boshaw and ender all know how to and have probably made mods like player radars, curio radars and stuff like that, yet those things haven't leaked to the public.
I've made my own mods (currently a player radar and a curio highlighter, with menus) and I'm keeping them to myself for now, but really, I am surprised at how those client mods can be distributed to so many people yet they are never leaked to the general public.

And I'm tired of walking these streets

What isn't fair? That you can't code shit and are not in a village with a coder able to do it?

Just one of the issues of having a Java based game. (Any game on the net, actually, could be reverse engineered and people make custom clients for it. Java just makes it a bit easier.) There are ways of detecting hacked clients, but there's ways around that, too. The bigger factions already had hacked clients, and that's why Jorb and Loftar decided to make the client open source (see page here).
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

i don't think that was the motivation to make it open source
