Mod that makes Male & Female Silkmoths look different?

Postby ArtemisGray » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:39 am

Hi.

Just wondering if anyone has something that makes Silkmoths look different based on their gender?

It's only slightly annoying putting my cursor over them to check their gender when stuffing them into cupboards. Unless I'm missing something.

If not I guess I'll find out how to do it myself, maybe just make them squares, each with a different color.

Its very unlikely that anyone can ... Other than HnH Dev's that is.
1: Moth gender is unlikely to be given by the server until you catch one.
2: Even than, you still have only one res file linking to both genders. (would need some client hack to make it work (on catched moths) whiteout direct Dev/server support.)

Didn't know how to word it but I thought this might be the case.

Oh well, thanks anyway for the info.

You could still probably have some sort of overlay that displays gender (just like there's an overlay to display quality).

I have a graphic for a female silkmoth I made somewhere if a modder decides to work on it.

basicly this, really.

just extract haven-res.jar and find file for moths in iventory (somewhere like gfx/inv/blabla cant remember :P) and there u will have the name of the file u have pointers to. these pointers will then be located in haven.jar, i think (again i might be confusing em, see enders dev log regarding the highlight/show animals on minimap or as mentioned quality overlay, should be a good indicator as to exact files etc.).

however if it is in haven. jar then simply extract, search for the name of the file the pointer is pointing to ( no, rly? xD) and check how the gender is impelmented. if 2 -->1 then simply switch one of em and there u go (ofc put in new gfx in haven.res.jar). if not, please report back with findings :D

(most of this is pure guesses as i have never done this myself, just made some similar moding :P)

I'm messing around with a bit of stuff, if by some chance I get something like this to work I'd certainly upload it.

Thanks for the replies.
