Shift-clicking in water

I want to be able to shift-click and plot my path on rivers, just like how you can shift-click while on land using enders client. How can I do this?

I want to be able to shift-click and plot my path on rivers, just like how you can shift-click while on land using enders client. How can I do this?

You can shift click once as you enter the boat, but that's it. You aren't actually moving while in the boat, you are controlling the movements of the boat itself, and for some reason that causes the shift click function to not work.
