Making new mods or Reskinning guide?

I'm wanting to learn how to reskin or 'mod' the textures of Haven and was wondering how exactly i go about doing that?

My apologies for being ignorant but i feel like someone should make a video for a 'how to mod: basics', type thing because reading everything is just confusing me the more i read.
