I'm posting this here because I see a lot of people with the same problem I had when upgrading to Mavericks.

At first I couldn't get it back to 1.6.
I tried reinstalling it, didn't work.
And looking all over the internet I couldn't find anything on removing 1.8, only the 1.7.

How I got it to work was by actually deleting the java 1.8 file using the method described at the bottom of this page http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/webnotes/install/mac/mac-jdk.html.

I know it's for 1.7 but if you use the same commands just replace the 1.7 file name with your 1.8 file name it works just fine.

that's where you get this error from
Error: This Java instance does not support a 32-bit JVM.
,
while Apple Java 6 supports both (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572)

10.9 Maverick uninstalls Java when upgrading so you'll need to reinstall - if you want to use Ender for Mac made by Hasse (which is 32 Bit) you'd better go with Apple Java update

Seems someone has to build a 64 Bit Ender for Mac for those that want to use Java 7 JRE /JDK on Maverick

Those that have Oracle Java 7 (64 Bit) on their Mac OsX Union 64 Bit client might be an alternative way to run a custom client....

I googled some things and read through a dozen more threads. I installed and uninstalled numberous things. Finally I came across this and gave it another shot.

It worked! Finally! Thank you all so much for having the info here to read through.

:D
If you're using Hassekebap Mac client - just download the updater.jar from Ender thread first post and drop it into Hassekebap Ender folder and run it by doubleclicking to get the client up to date (and newer gluegen and jogl libaries)

I've tried setting up West Community on Yosemite 10.10.1, but whenever I run either regular union or with the west community, the terminal opens, then I see MainFrame pop up on the app list, but before even any windows open, MainFrame closes, and all the terminal says is "[Process completed]".

My version of Java is the latest java 7 update JDK, and I'm able to run Anemone.

thoughts: jsbot might be a problem (?) - try different libs (?) i.e. the ones in here:

In my experience, no, I'm pretty sure it's some kind of library error for Apoc, and I haven't been able to find a fix.

romovs Anemone uses
gluegen-rt-natives-macosx-universal.jar
jogl-all-natives-macosx-universal.jar
gluegen-rt.jar
jogl-all.jar

all from jogamp (v2.1.2) - without jogamp native tag in jars

Xcom latest ApocLite uses v2.2.4 with jogamp native tag in jars

APXEOLOG Union (and direct forks) use even older SUN libs

portals have you tried to copy over these above from Anemone to Apoc, Union or West?
(not sure if it helps to extract both macosx-universals and drop the jnilibs into usr/lib ?)

@the_portals there was an update recently that included some openGL updates. If you haven't tried it please give the latest version a try to see if it still doesn't work.
