How to disable the mouse skin?

Postby dagrimreefah » Fri Mar 28, 2014 9:21 pm

I am using Apoc Lite 64 bit on a Linux Mint machine. However, the mouse is sluggish as all hell. I saw a post about disabling the mouse skin for Ender's client, with a download link. Of fucking course, the link is dead.... Does anyone happen to have that file/know how I can disable the in-game mouse skin so I can just use the much faster default hardware mouse cursor? Thank you in advance.

Did you try to raise the mouse sensitivity in Mint?

terminal is “xinput -list” which will give some information about your pointing device.

xinput -set-prop “ImExPS/2 Logitech Explorer Mouse” “Device Accel Constant Deceleration” 1

the higher the number at the end of that command, the slower the mouse will move

Not sure if it helps - btw. which DM are you using?

Can't access my HnH files atm so i can't help with the cursors res file

Thanks for the reply, Borka

In fact, I created bash scripts that allow me to adjust the sensitivity of my mouse, from fast to slow, using that exact method you mentioned above.

It had no impact. I use "xinput" for other games, but when it comes to Ender's/Apoc, the mouse has always been sluggish no matter what I try, and I've seemingly tried it all.

However, Rizen client's mouse is smooth. The client's creator Adriano did something to make the mouse run great in linux; if only I knew what he did.

It will take some days 'till i can have a look into it - i'm changing OSses (getting rid of XP), using this to rebuild my whole machine park and network (which makes sense as i'm moving to another flat aswell) and i'm going to install Mint 16 on my bigger Notebook in a few days anyways - so i can test res changes myself too

If you can share what you have found regarding this problem that would be awesome, as my knowledge of java/client modding is very limited and I am preoccupied with learning another language that is similar to C++. I thank you again, Borka :D

Ok Mint16 Mate is installed on my Notebook and i ran a short test with unchanged plain latest Ender - cursor speed is the same as desktop speed i'd say. I'll do some more tests with different res next days ...

Mmmm, I thank thee Borka, you're a trooper.

I am running xfce, although I doubt that makes any difference. Try Apoc too if you could, although I doubt that makes a difference either. (handshake).

TheTrav did this with his client back in the day. I have no clue what he did but if you dig up his client and poke around you might find something.

I also found this,

Thanks for the link, buddy. It didn't help my problem, but it sure as hell gave some insight about how the mouse cursor works/is drawn. Lol.
