Single-Digit FPS

For whatever reason, I've been getting like, 7 FPS at most on Mac. I have 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, so I don't see why the game is running so slow. Any advice?

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card? I had an FPS problem which was fixed by turning off threaded optimization in le control panel.

Slow graphic card with bad OpenGL driver support? (some Intel) Not enough memory shared? (don't know about that with Mac)
Tried different heap settings (Xms Xmx) - lower higher? (while not sure why it should push or limit FPS)
