I'm a hermit, have been for all my gameplay. When I logged out last night, my hermitage was nice and tidy, palisade closed, etc.
Log in this morning, and it's a disaster area. Couple dozen cupboards destroyed, another dozen or so assorted other containers gone, basically everything in said containers stolen and/or destroyed, all of my feed troughs destroyed, animal pens opened and/or smashed, probably a quarter of my animals slaughtered.
Since there's no damage to the palisade, all I can assume is that, sometime during the past when I forgot to close it, somebody snuck into my palisade and made use of my keymolds, and then today came back with a raid.
So I'm asking for advice. Said keymolds are gone, along with the cupboard they used to be in. This means I cannot assume my palisade is secure. There's a ridge I built up against, so I can't build a new wall around my existing palisade. Not that I can afford to build a brick wall - I haven't even tried for steel. Leaving would be painful - I recently started a mining alt, because my main was going all farming, and it's just painful switching between a newbie and an advanced character.
What do I do?
