The Legacy Of Sees Far

Postby Ninijutsu » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:49 am

As many of you may or may not know, I have lived in Anor Londo for quite some time now. I joined approximately 4 and a half weeks ago. For the most part I had a dandy time there, but I started to grow a deep seeded hatred for our lawspeaker, Evertodd. I'm going to save a lot of your time and a lot of arguing and skip past the reasons. For the past few days I have been planning with my friend (to be known as Bain for this post) to leave the village, and live in a new town in the peaceful supergrid. We made sure that everybody was offline, and we began to make our leave. We took our personal possessions with us at first, but we had other plans as well. Once Bain had grabbed his belongings and finished brickwalling the Q60 waterwell for our use later on, I plundered the village to hell. All I could think about was how much I hated Todd, and subsequently I took everything I could lay my hands on. All the cheese, all the food, all the steel, all the wrought, all the personal belongings I found.

Once everything was moved to our new village, news spread quickly. Immediately after Todd logged in and found out what had happened, people began learning of the heist.

(the following part of the story is mostly second-hand information, and may be bias and/or inaccurate. I apologize for any miscommunications)

Swarls was a friend of Evertodd, and he set a personal vendetta against me for what I had done. Bain and the leader of my new town had some discussions with Swarls and whatnot. Aurelie made it clear that although she did not wish it, she would kill me due to Swarl's wishes for my demise.

And then it began.

She came to the village walls, and we had a moderately long discussion. In the end, she decided it was either all of my gear + 15 pearls, or my death. Being the stubborn fuck I am, I refused to pay the bounty and I ran outside to fight over my life, like a man. I knew for sure I was going to lose the fight, as I had sparred Aurelie before with little success.

I tried to record the whole thing, but being as dumb as I am I set the start/stop button to my Oak Stance hotkey, so it skips around a lot. I gained a few initiative on her before running in and initiating the fight.

The video link will be posted in a moment. It is processing.

In the end I may have lost my life, but it will never be nearly as valuable as the friendship that ended from my careless plundering of the village. I will miss you Max.

Everything I had stolen has been returned as well.

(and in case you haven't found out yet, Sees Far is the name of my character)

EDIT:

In case I didn't make it clear, I highly regret stealing anything. My judgment was completely clouded that night.

you just messed with a highly profitable trade, so you had to repay or die..

Yeah yeah yeah. You had a deep seeded hatred growing? For someone that told you very specifically that if you got into the lower village you'd have to work like a no lifer for the whole of the group until we got everything sorted? You got such preferential treatment it was ridiculous, considering the foolishness that you've done. We let you use our work to buy you Thanes, and you did it on a poor trade cutting our steel value in half. You gloated to a hostile village our (at the time) palisaded tree farm. You attacked allied villages and and killed randoms that nearly got us all done in.

Forgive me if I played for 8-16 hours a day for two months and picked up the slack with Max for your empty promises time and time again. "I'll do this in a day! I swear!" A week later, we're finishing up your tasks yet again.

What amazes me is your timing. The week we finish all the hard labor, you jump ship right before we wrap it up and so lose yourself and your friend all that stuff that we'd happily have given you and even offered a parting gift if you said you wished to go afterwards. I held no ill will. It's not easy to do a communist style village, but we did good all things considered. I never asked you to do anything I didn't or don't do myself. We offered you everything we could do if you just helped us for a time. You got upset and needlessly angry like many younger players I've seen. It's a pity you couldn't just talk out your frustrations rather than bottle them up.

Sad to think you've just done what you did in past worlds. Raped the people who trusted you and ran. Ah well. I guess it comes down to just not being able to please everyone, even those who feel entitled and are given most everything they ask for. I'm sorry you chose this path. You may keep the archer account "Intoxication" I gave you a while back. I took back the alt. farmer I gave you. I wish you the best in the rest of this world. I'm glad with Sees Far skeleton decorating whatever place I choose to call home for the remainder of this world, though.
