by kaizokuroof » Tue Apr 17, 2012 4:10 am So this idea has been tossed around a bit, a lot of people seem keen on the idea of holding a fighting tournament at the Apples for Oranges sparring arena. This thread is just to throw ideas out there, get numbers and generally just see if it would be worth the time and effort
All prizes will be provided by me, unless anyone else has things to put in the prize list.
Prize List (so far):
- 2 LC's of Midnight Blue Cheese
- 2 LC's of Creamy Camembert
- 1 Pair of Thanes rings Q120+
- 1 Pair of Ring of Brodgars Q65+
- 1 Pearl necklace.
- 500 pts to spend on my trade thread
- Q115 Merchant Robe (unknown donator) <3
- "High Quality" Soldiers Sword (Swarls) <3
Some people have suggested a tier sort of system, in the form of combat stat class, for example 1 UA/MC to 200 UA/MC would be in tier 1, tier 2 would consist of 200 UA/MC to 400 UA/MC, tier 3 would consist of 400 to 600 UA/MC, tier 4 would be 600+ This is just a rough start, nothing set in stone as we will need numbers.
I have also been suggested to include a sniper duel, perhaps instead of a sniper duel we could have a group fight with 4 v 4 matches, which may include bows as a weapon, you may enter your villages 4 best warriors and compete for fame and honor for your village, I'm thinking we should have a separate prize for the winners of the group fighting.
All spars will be conducted with armor, if you don't have armor for disposal, I can provide you with some basic stuff, Q80ish bronze/steel plate for matches.

If you have no combat experience and want to get a little bit of knowledge while we are still setting things up feel free to PM me to arrange a practice time, that said I'm sure anyone sparring at the arena would be more than happy to teach you a thing or two
Just to clarify, this tournament will take place at Apples for Oranges Sparring arena, which is just west of the market place

Here I will be keeping a list of ideas and what not to be included into the tournament, these are just ideas, I will confirm all this once it has been decided.

QUESTIONS:
Will it be standard combat only or will movement be allowed? Yes. IMO Movement Kamberts is a viable type of combat and will be allowed in the tournament.
Will there be a betting system? Jordan Coles will be the man to see about this, he has some betting ideas in the pipes ^-^
How do you plan to verify peoples combat stats? We will be going by the honesty of everyone, if you believe the spar is unfair, just let me know and we can work out the rough UA/MC of the opponent based on our stats.
Is it going to be a straight spar or are frogs/objects trees and running going to be allowed? I think you should be able to spar how you like, Running/objects/clipping is all allowed.
Also are you guys allowing known enemies and KOS people to attend or will they be jumped? Yes, enemies of Dis/Ainran will be allowed to compete, in fact we would love for them to come
Can I join in a higher weightclass even if my UA/MC is ow? Sure you can, you are able to go up to any weight class you like, but you cannot go down a weightclass.
What about if you qualify for tier 2 stat wise but have absolutely no combat experience what-so-ever, lol, would you still have to fight in tier 2? yes, unfortunately you will still have to stick to your weightclass
whats the rules on ancestors. like can you enter a lower bracket and verify your stats and then use ancestors? Ancestors will be allowed, however if you use prayer and are pushed into the higher bracket, you will be unable to participate in the bracket you applied for, your total UA/MC is counted for weight classes.
