Hermitage Raided

Postby foomanchu » Fri Jun 29, 2012 7:14 pm

Well, its finally happened.

My simple hermitage has been raided.

Considering I only started up within a couple weeks ago, I can't say I have much. No mineholes, no metals. All crops below 50. Etc.
The thing that drives me to the forums is the fact that this raider has destroyed my house, my coops, looms, herb tables, etc.. nearly everything.. Even crates filled with useless junk. He also bashed the gate of the pali to make it more of a pain to rebuild the wall, and I am unfortunate enough to have finished my village idol apparently right before he raided, so he nuked that too.
While I understand the thrill of raiding, and the joy at the prospect of loot, but to go out of your way to destroy nearly everything a harmless player has built up? With a dwindling playerbase, it just doesnt make sense to me for a player to do unwarranted senseless destruction with the seeming goal to make someone/some people quit.
Warring village destruction I understand, scentless hermitages?

If he just took anything and everything of value, id normally just suck it up and remain quiet. But the needless destruction has driven me to the forums to request a ranger. Unfortunately, I do not have much in the way of information. All I know is that he bashed my north gate (no ram as I used that gate less than 12 hrs ago) and that hes a dick. He left the message "The Glorious Leader sends his regards".

I dont have much in the way of payment either, being a noob still. I can only offer 2-3 flotsams, what little I had alt-vaulted.
Anyone got any opinions on whether I should consider rebuilding at the same spot (though to be honest, its got crap soil, crap access to water and clay, when I selected it I chose it for the proximity of a bunch of swamps) or just do an alt exodus to a new spot?

First of all, do you know you where you are in algeralith's map? It may be rather difficult to locate you due to the vastness of the land though but see if you can find any familiar landscape in the area. This may be needed to request for an aid of a ranger. Do take note you may or may not attract other kind of people to the location.

Next, do you have have your home claimed (just a personal claim will suffice). This is mandatory for a ranger to track the raider.

As for your situation, it sounds like you essentially have nothing after the raider has literally destroyed everything (did you had a palisade that he destroyed as well? I recall someone that got raided where the raider destroyed all segments of his palisade). It is best for you to probably move somewhere else, preferably far especially considering you have nothing to really attach yourself to the land.

That is all I can really say for now, good luck on continuing your path.

I forgot to mention,
I have a nearby "dead" village I am chieften of and can oath players in. Pretty short walk from there.

And yes, I know my location on algeralith's map. Would prefer to remain undisclosed on the forums.

Yes, my land was claimed and pallisaded. He only destroyed the palisade gate, which is a major pain to rebuild considering I have nothing left (need mats for 2 corner posts, etc).

One thing I'm surprised about is that he didnt kill my cows and sheep(which i spent a bunch of time taming probably hours before he raided me). Which will make it not as convenient to move as 3 are pregnant..I can probably kill one or two to reduce the strain on food. He also was "kind" enough to not harvest and dump a couple of the crops that were probably ready at the time.
Maybe I should bide my time and gather mats for an oxcart, so I can transplant as much farm materials as possible help kickstart my new hermitage.

Whatever you had left is still there besides for your main's hf. You still have the male sheep and the three pregnant cows along with the bull.
