For some reason I remember something like this being mentioned awhile back, but I'm not sure who I heard it from or when.

I am pretty useless.

Me too. I remember some of our Russian members reading on the Russian forums about the option to find the position of people in your kinlist with some bug that works similar to the party feature or some shit like that. Never asked for it again after I posted it in the Inner Party and Loftar said that it should be impossible to do so back then as well.

Well there's two possibilities here it's either real and loftar is wrong which is not impossible or it's one of those myths that keep popping from time to time. I may be inclined to think it's the first though but that's just because of how I feel about bug abusing russians.

I might be wrong, but when you pm someone, your char turn the same way as the one you pm, if he isn't in a house. Can it be something about that maybe ?

But you'd need to have them kinned then, or have started a chat with them earlier.

theoreticaly, if hacked client knows GUID of character, it can try to send chat packets,
and may be bugged server will answer by direction.

That might work, but I think (didn't look at the code) GUID is tokenized, or at least random every session.

yes, but you can find this random number by some tricks.
and anyway, it is same in one session.

Only if you're within rendering distance of them.

Though, the theory of clients being able to show where someone you have kinned is wouldn't completely surprise me. There were a lot of incidents (pretty much every single time) where we got really close to the person we were tracking and they would hearth (mostly with guys who we thought were RUA). I'm not saying it's the case, and im not accusing them of it, but it was kinda weird =\. It's perfectly possible it was just coincidence.
