Wolfs are social animals. They do not injure their own pack members unless it is really needed. And they defend their territory from other packs like any other kinds of animals do. I am pretty sure, if dogs were not domestic animals they'd behave the same.
Also, in spite AD and Portgas&co we do not kill own villagers. Have heard some rumours about such things happening on their side. Should be pretty much depressing.
