This account theft thing has the actual potential to cause irreversible damage and that is definitely not desirable. So it has to be dealt with in one way or the other. The most drastic of which would be a shut down.

I said I don't agree with those asking for a shutdown no matter what. I said that if people pissed me off so much in my game I might simply take it away from them until the day I can actively deal with the threat at hand again.

The way to deal with it is to not have the fucking client for an MMO be open-source. ;)

(I actually agree with burg on all of his recent points, but also resign that there's really nothing to do except sit and wait for jl to return)

I can't tell what the main focus is here, server crashing, account stealing, wall jumping, or raider villages?

This is meant for Avu, and Burgingham as well, "as long as you are cutting noobs heads off everything is fine" -"fuck you and your raider village". First, Avu, Ainran didn't use vaults last world, and is not this world, we've made a nice town, catered to aeshetics, and quality, working with many aspects of the game. I'm currently helping some newer players set up a villager (raider village) in our water system. Finally, in light of the dev's abscences, and the bug jumping pact between Pande, and NNN last world, I'm working on implementing a new siege system. This is to let rams that have been placed at our walls go with out being destroyed, so long as the attacking village and mine can meet a compromise that works best (or worse) for both villages, much fun can be had this way. These things are ruining the game?

It's not just H&H that's getting damaged by all this BS. The core of Salem's future playerbase will surely be H&H players, and no good community can grow from a rotten core.

Valten, this has nothing to do with Ainran using a vault or not, or resorting to some selfmade rules. Do you actually think people hacking other peoples clients will agree with you on a date and time to fight? This is a much more serious topic on people blatantly disregarding set rules and even resorting to questionable if not illegal out of game methods nowadays since nobody is there to show them their boundaries.

That's the point, I couldn't tell who was being targeted here, because in between the bug jumping and account stealing Avu always seems to find a way to make it look like he's suggesting raider villagers are ruining the game. If only we were more like the goons.

but this account theft is not different from any other game where company of botter/farmers/fake cc abusers, sell you in game item and put you a keylogger on their site.... the dev just say "dont go on strangers website", and i dont see whatelse j&l should do aside say "dont download from unknow client source".... i mean you play wakfu now right? i think still there are those screaming bot outside nab spawn leading you to a rmt site, which 80% of the time have a keylogger in them, you think devs have to deal with it ? no they dont (and not because is still in beta cuz i sold like 3 chara on that game even if in beta...and i can tell you that there are players that even paid real money for get first crafting stuff in that, so not surprising that some other can go for a "outsider site and buy item", and this is a common (sadly) knew behaviour in any game out there.

but let's be honest, you ever saw a game out here be shut down cuz some player try to get a "third part program" and then weep since there was a keylog in it ? (even if is the client of the game is modified, so considered in all effect a "third part prog" ).

@burg : is not that im arguing with you ofc, is just that you took the central point of this discussion about "shutting down a game" in relation of "the account theft", that has not been made by breaking the database of j&l but simply by placing a keylogger on a client on the russian forum which is totally nosense that people cry after download something from not knew resource ;) (like in h&h if you invite in a village random people you dont whine after if they kill you, for that you accept only people you can, or at least partially trust :) )
