I know I've become jaded because I'm waiting for the follow up post where the OP has been murdered by Ainran or one of the foreign versions of Narnia backwards and her head put on a spit then fed to several boars in the area.

I woke up today and saw the remains of the devil boar in a crate and its hide stretched across a rack in front of me. The boar was dead and I was finally free from its terror, I can finally carry on my simple riverside existence in peace.

This thread is more like my actual experience of the game than the rest of the forums. Gunnar is hero and NotSure aside from obviously being a fan of one of my favourite films of recent years, spun a good yarn. Everyone talks like it's just people murdering 10 stat hearthlings for no personal gain except "lol noob" and raiding small towns but I've met tolerant helpful neighbors, wanderers who just travel the world looking for people to meet (and hitchhiking on my alt's boat) and brutal raiders who'll cut a new player a break because, well he just killed a bear, respect man.

Of course that's not to say I've not seen trouble either. But there's still people who see the value in cheering someone up, having a nice chat and getting some useful info, or just telling a good story.
