I am going to disagree with you a bit.


Amanda, I'm not casting you down mind you, but the main reason(imo) you were helped is because you are female. It's built into all of us to help the "damsel in distress" on top of that, the majority of this gaming pop. are males ages 16-45. and of these males, i would say most of them are not your mainstream kinda male. we're classically known as geeks, nerds, outcasts, and/or loaners.

but lets look at it this way.

I have never done anything for Dis except be a pain in the bum, lol, and take, take, take. I can imagine them groaning every time my name pops up Yet still they continue to offer me help and give, give, give.

how many posts can you show me where DIS or any other major faction, hell even any mid tier faction does this for a male. if your able to show proof, then your right and i was wrong.

I usually totally agree with Tek, but I think you are right in this instance Joo. Maybe DIS or another faction would have provided aid, but not this much or this quickly. I think it might be hardwired in the male brain to help a damsel in distress. I even admit when I was reading your post i wanted to lend a hand. I don't mean for this to detract from that fact that I am sure you are a charming person in game and irl, Amanda.

Personally I've offered homes in my vault for many people who are trying to find a safe place to live until they have a village to hide behind, I've ported over care packages on multiple occasions to random noobs/forum people I've found, I've also ported in to help defend people who have asked. It really just depends on the person helping, and yes, most of the people were male.

The point isn't very valid, people respond to Amanda because she's a good person, it's the same reason why many male members are helped also.

FYI joojoo, Jordan and i started talking long before i got into any kind of trouble, so your damsel in distress senario isn't applicable in his case. As the other ppl who came are also in Dis, i would imagine that has more to do with Jordan than me.

The same applies to Kam, we were practicaly enemies not that long ago but after we got talking on another matter we ended up becoming friends.

And as i already stated, i have had help and offers of help from females in-game as well. Emerald has done loads for me and i'm pretty certain that has more to do with my personality than the fact that i'm female.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen but in this case i realy don't think its that simple. Teck is right, these are allies and friends that have been built up over the months i've been playing.

Still, good to know that when you offered me help it was because you are a geeky, nerdy, outcast loner in need of a bit of female attention.
