@Communism debate. The communist model as developed by Marx indeed aims for a strong government. It is one of Marx's deepest beliefs that without a strong superstructure society cannot be just.

That theory has evolved in certain circles at a certain time and Marx had people around him. Some followed him blindly, some did not. So yes, there are different ways to define communism if you choose to not follow the Marxist doctrin, but instead look at some of the theorists that split from Marx. Some - like Kropotkin or Bakunin - developed entirely different theories such as a left-wing libertarian concept, or anarchism. Some developed their own, slightly different communist theories.

In so far Dagrim is correct that there is no such thing as "Anarcho-Communism" (Those are in fact diametrically opposed) if you follow the mainstream theories as one probably should unless clarifying otherwise, since most follow up theories and schools that preach communism kinda derive from the Marxist theories.

But I really want to hear more Brodgar stories :P

P.S: Gunnar it might very well be that what you mean is better described with "socialism", because that does not necessarily involve a governemental structure, but is more of a social model, rather than a political one. Socialism thus is part of communism, but not the other way around. Communism always incorporates theories about the government, socialism does not.

P.P.S: I should stop reading such debates backwards. Some of what I posted here might have actually been said already or doesn't really play that big of a role in your arguments...

Sending a PM so as to stop messing up Brodgar. I disagree ofc, but our disagreement is essentially semantic, like I and ninijutsu already said. I didn't just make up the term anarcho-communism, and I'm extremely surprised you are saying there is no such thing.

Just as a quick note: The term seems to exist indeed and I now remembered where I have read it before. Kropotkin uses that term in his books. Kropotkin is exactly one of those people I was describing that first started off as one of Marx's followers and then split from him. So they did not accept his use of the word "communism" anymore.

The broad scientific community however stuck with Marx's term and started calling what Kropotkin and fellows thought up "Anarcho-Syndicalism".

Well, I guess perhaps there is a difference between the broad scientific community and the books that I gravitated towards :). Also communism is not just an abstract political theory, it is a movement that is really only just emerging from being oppressively dominated by various horrible groups in the 20th century. I sent you a PM with more discussion anyway.
