The people have always some champion whom they set over them and nurse into greatness.... This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector.
PLATO

When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other, in order that the people may require a leader.
PLATO

Authority and power are two different things: power is the force by means of which you can oblige others to obey you. Authority is the right to direct and command, to be listened to or obeyed by others. Authority requests power. Power without authority is tyranny.
JACQUES MARITAIN

Tyranny
Is far the worst of treasons. Dost thou deem
None rebels except subjects? The prince who
Neglects or violates his trust is more
A brigand than the robber-chief.

I see myself more as Euripides' saying

"Question Everything"
(Hence my name)

If things are left unquestioned, then
you are left with things such as below
and above your dotted line. You are
left with false facts and a very molded
mind that has been crafted by countless
individuals that express their power
over both your conscious and sub-
conscious. You are left, wrong, and
perfectly fine with being wrong. You
will defend what you think is right, even
if it's wrong. You cannot be proven wrong
if you don't have a mind willing to accept
new thoughts and differentiate fact from
false fact, from opinion.

Really... if you don't question things, (or
for LadyGoo "seek things other than Peace")
then you will be left impairing yourself
whether you know it or not. Question
everything. Especially quotes by people that
are believed to be scholars or geniuses.
Because they are often wrong

Maybe we should all copy/paste philosophy-related quotes from Wikipedia to blend in with the thread nicely?

i've always seen Ladygoo (+ Burgingham, and some others) as kind of agents of "Order"; as their goal seems to be to control others; unlike the guys in Ainran, who it seems to me don't really want to control other people, but enjoy the "Chaos" of battle. i guess this fits in with LadyGoo saying her goal is always to reach some sort of equilibrium, and naowhut saying he is constantly questioning everything (and thus will never desire to reach such a state of "no change").

oh hi btw

That can I;
At least, the whisper goes so. Our last king,
Whose image even but now appear'd to us,
Was, as you know, by Fortinbras of Norway,
Thereto prick'd on by a most emulate pride,
Dared to the combat; in which our valiant Hamlet--
For so this side of our known world esteem'd him--
Did slay this Fortinbras; who by a seal'd compact,
Well ratified by law and heraldry,
Did forfeit, with his life, all those his lands
Which he stood seized of, to the conqueror:
Against the which, a moiety competent
Was gaged by our king; which had return'd
To the inheritance of Fortinbras,
Had he been vanquisher; as, by the same covenant,
And carriage of the article design'd,
His fell to Hamlet. Now, sir, young Fortinbras,
Of unimproved mettle hot and full,
Hath in the skirts of Norway here and there
Shark'd up a list of lawless resolutes,
For food and diet, to some enterprise
That hath a stomach in't; which is no other--
As it doth well appear unto our state--
But to recover of us, by strong hand
And terms compulsatory, those foresaid lands
So by his father lost: and this, I take it,
Is the main motive of our preparations,
The source of this our watch and the chief head
Of this post-haste and romage in the land.

Though I may have died fighting for my comrades, my death is only physical, I shall return with the spirit of the Golden Ninja Warrior.

______________

My version of the storeh.

______________

"I'm dead" the most horrible thing you can read in your village chat... "I'm ded 2 :(" "ME2 :( :( :(". Oh no, my comrades are dying! I must save them, I quickly grabbed my gear went straight to the idol where I met my Dynamic Ninja Warrior Counter Part, DaGrimReefah. "Grim" I said, "it's time."

We ported straight to the Alekseevskaya mountain, the attack had happened due north of the mountain, Valor and Grim ran as fast as they could to attack the massive army of Dis... 2 Guys vs 8+ this is suicide, but it must be done, for our fallen comrades.

Grim and I quickly devise a plan, we are to run north as soon as we agro the first person.... We reach the northen part of the mountain, no dead bodies, no signs of Dis, could they have left already? Valor decides to scout south, Grim goes north, he Yells out to Valor "Found a body here! Full loot as well" So I head back to regroup with Grim... just as we meet each other, Valor spots a filthy Dis member! "For Wayneville, Die Dis Scum!" as he charges towards them, Another one and Another one and Another one!! All wearing Dhelms in Necros/Merch Robes and Soldiers Helm Tsack combat.

The mighty jorb casts down his bad luck 2 ArtEh, there is a lag spike right as the first Dis member and Valor are heading to each other to clash swords. The lag subsides and we're now both charging, with 2 more moving in to attack valor while Grim runs west. Valor has to act fast, she quickly maneuvers south away from the 3 in pursuit but has to stop to juke a movement hit. The second one closing in now and is almost upon her, Valor blocks the first punch from her attacker with her shield *WHAM!!* There is a loud bash against the shield as the attacker punches, that'd have to break a few knuckles at least she thinks.. a second later she's clobbered from the side, *WHAM!!* this time, the blow hits for 44 DMG, in Her dazed state she realises that she must run.

Valor takes off south, leaving the 3 dis members standing there dazed as if they were surprised they'd broken through the shield. Heading south, heart pounding she weeps for her fallen comrades. What has happened to Grim and will she suffer the same fate as her comrades?

The chase through the mountain is rough, many chances to escape, but Valor smells blood! As she exits the mountain, a sudden feeling of sadness overcomes her, as if her Ninja Warrior Counter Part has just fallen....

The chase continues for quite some time, Valor throws a few stings and manages to lose 1 of the members chasing her in a top hat quite a few times. The chase leads across heath and over mudflats, right towards a cliff... The 3 dis members are in close pursuit now, it looks as if Valor is trapped... BUT using her amazing speed she navigates through some trees and doubles back which lets the chase go on another good 2-3 minutes.

Water approaches fast from the south, with only 36 CON, swimming is riskay business, but she must do all she can to cross the river. Valor enters the water, the icy water stings her skin.. she makes it half way, feeling as if she is about to give up... The edge is so close... consciousness starts slipping (16% stamina) until.. SUDDENLY her feet touch ground, BUT WAIT!! What's this, her pursuer is right behind her! She turns to slide past the combatant, but isn't quick enough and takes a movement punch 180 Dmg!!! the hit almost knocks her off her feet, dazed and confused she runs north around the river, but unfortunately clips herself on a rock... this is the end... SORRY I HAVE FAILED YOU WAYNEVILLE!@ WHAM she takes another blow, darkness surrounds her now... which slowly turns into nothingness...

THE END.
