Not to derail an otherwise useful thread, but when was the last time one of the major villages was broken into via a ram? There's been quite a few raids via bug abuse and social engineering, but I can't recall a one of this world or last where rams were used to break in. I'll admit that I don't track these things like some of the people around here, so it's quite likely I might have missed it.
Either way, again, I point out, what is the effective difference between a "vault" and a normal, well patrolled brickwalled village? None, except you have exactly one point of attack for a vault as well as a small enough size so you can see any rams at or near the walls, thus eliminating the need to actually patrol anything. (As a note, I've seen smaller villages with brick walls in the open completely surrounded by statues. It was enough area for a few people and their alts with a two beehive farm, though, and not just camp out waiting on scents to expire.)
Eh... it's the internet. You can't actually apply things like logic to what people come up with. The label is what it is. I think it needs to be changed, but whatever.
