The mark of a noob group is the lack of their own persistent communication system.

Yeah, sorry if we're not a completely coordinated group of veterans from W1.

4 newbies in the middle of nowhere trying to move away to a more desirable spot get raided by 6 sword and armor guys trying to claim to be rua. Great first 48 hours, huh?

I agree. Use steam or Skype so you don't look like a total noob on the forums.

Snap decision by anthal, quick post in a main board or go through the process of getting all our names into a PM.

And no, we don't have skype, msn, or something. We don't know each other yet, and I'm not giving out personal contact info to someone I don't know yet.
Though I don't know why I bother. No answer I give will matter because you already have a group of people you trust and have given contact info to, and you can't fathom someone being in a situation other than your own.

Yeah because people are suggesting you give your home address phone number and post pictures. The fact is you are noobs and I find amusing the idea we can't fathom your situation when every fucking single one of us had to start the game at some point. Anyhow let me give you tip you can block people you don't want to talk to if you do indeed decide later you don't want to deal with them. Anyway sucks to be you but better it happening this early rather than after a few months of hard work going down the drain in a few hours and it coming as a total shock to you. At least you know what you are getting into now. You either adapt or you quit.

For instant communication to be useful, you have to have an active client to receive messages. If that's skype, then you have to have skype running all the time. If you already have a skype account for other stuff, you've giving our an account name that you use on a regular basis already. If steam, you're giving out a potentially large dataset of personal information.
Personally, my steam account is over 100 games and I'll be damned if I give any bit of that info to anyone I don't know face to face. Beyond attempts to steal the account, a gift to someone's steam account that later has the purchase charges reversed can get the account banned and all games lost.
So really, kudos to you people who freely give this info to people you'll probably have a bad breakup with within a couple months.

And no, you apparently did not start the game the same way I have, because your first reaction to someone trying to do damage control is to comment (paraphrased) "Haha, you're a fucking noob. Hey everyone, look at the noob. He's such a noob isn't he, being all noobish and shit... Noob." like a god damned 10 year old trying to form a shame mob against the new kid with headgear braces.
If you had personally started out like this, then you should probably have the intelligence to keep your worthless comments to your fucking self and let the guy try to do some fucking damage control using the games boards.

Sorry to anyone else who reads through this. We didn't lose anything much and it would have been completely glossed over if not for the dumbass comments here.

You give personal info all the time even without realizing it. Moderators can see your ip and if that's not proxied and shit can potentially track back to the real you. You can give me all the bullshit about someone trusting them not to abuse their power but how do you know? I mean if you're paranoid be all the way don't pick and choose. And steam really? Is everyone supposed to be a little valve toady today to make steam viable as communication system for everyone? And if it's so easy to fuck with your account why do you have one?

And bad breakups? lol sure people get pissed at one another but to assume they are axe murdering stalkers just waiting for you to say a wrong word is hilarious. Also not having cybersex with people does cut on the stalker factor by quite a bit I'm sure.

When I started I got raided by the big bad boys of that world after a month of playing. We were noobs people made fun of us many quit but guess what I got better. Yes I'm not nice never was never will be but that doesn't make what I'm saying wrong. You adapt or you quit simple as that and yes learning to use out of game communication is part of that except of course if you don't really want to stop being a noob and stop being a victim or you're just plain fucking casual but that's still a noob so who cares.

And to make it clear I don't give a fuck who you are I make fun of noobs and fools and larpers alike but I don't need to repeat myself but it's not just for fun and giggles if you stop acting butthurt you may actually take the advice.

Unless the mods have a fucking american warrant, there is jack shit they can do with an IP. They can go ahead and trace me to one of the ~65514 end points that consists of my ISP's allotted pool. I'm sure knowing I'm in one of three states my ISP covers will help their hollywood level hacking tools in pinpointing me.
Actually wait, regionalISP was bought by nationalISP a couple years ago, so knowing my IP will nail me down to a timezone...

I have steam because it's convenient, and by taking the simplest fucking precautions of not tossing my ID out to everyone who asks keeps it secure enough too.

Don't have to be an axe murderer to want to piss off someone who pissed you off. And newsflash, regardless of the actual cost to the victim, the attacker will only consider the personal cost to them. It's the entire fucking basis of "Trolling". Go look up /b/'s exploits sometime, see what teenagers will do for shits and giggles.

So you were raided as a noob and made fun of, so you feel entitled to do it yourself. Great job reinforcing a hostile atmosphere, you're a shining example of a suburban kid trying to massage his ego bruised by the horrors of not being the bully himself.

And what do larpers have to do with this? Did you really feel the need to show the entire length of your troll ePenis, or are you one of those idiots who confuse live action roleplaying aficionados with in game roleplayers?
