Why Russians?

Ok, so i've been playing long enough to run into some really blood thirsty players. Then it occured to me that these blood thirsty players were all Russians (don't get me wrong I have met a couple nice ones). Blood thirsty in the fact that they strive to Kill anyone in sight, especially noobs. I know this is not just me, because I have seen some russian hating runes around. Being as i'm fairly new, was there something in the passed that made them so ruthless? Seems its everyone against the Russians, or am I wrong?

One of the major factions has Russian roots and when you're a major faction the only real endgame is pvp

I shouldn't say all who are bloodthirsty are Russians, but most have been.

I have also never come across and single nice russian player, they are all out to murder every living creature and feast on its tears, Ive probably found 2 villages wrecked by russians as they have left runestones lying around boasting about it (russian friend read the screenshot for me, though he isn't evil, but maybe that's because irl russians are all friendly and peaceful)

Iv met a group of nice Russians. I was about 3 days into my new Char and running around a swamp after dragonflies and leeches for fishing. I then see a guy boat up with armor and a sword and stop and watch me. My boat was on the shore (I always shore my boat up to stop boat-by-nappings) so I figured I was likely going to lose it and my stuff, my life to if i did not Hearth but at only 3 days in I thought it might be worth at least trying to make friends with the locals.
The Guy said something in Russian which I guess was hello I said Hi back just as he said Hi in English. We talked for a bit and he seemed surprised that i was not Hearthing away and that I had no problems with him being Russian and then asked me if I needed metal. I did of course and he invited me back to his place.

Now Iv played this game enough to know what was likely going to happen. I would go to his place and then he would kill me there and be able to blame the scents on the fact that I was a raider and he had killed me in defense. But this was free metal, and an opportunity to make a good friend at only 3 days in was too much of a chance to miss - not like i had much to lose.

Much to my surprise I got a chest of low Q Iron bars and a low Q pick. We went out hunting together after that and i helped him take out a bear.

For a good while we traded, I enjoyed farming so could supply him lots of food for his metal, I also helped him get his wall up (silly bugger was mining before his wall was up) and all was going well...until I stopped seeing him on line for about a week.

Checking up on him i went to his place to find it abandoned and the gate open. A rune by the door read "Thanks for the free stuff" and when i entered his mine I saw both his and his friends skeletons...I miss my Russian friend

Don't forget that Bell and LadyGoo are not russian at all, first is ukrainian, second is kazakh (dunno how it called properly, anyway, that's that asian shithole on the russian border, lol).
I think they are doing it just because they cannot into socializing, imo.

Given that Haven is an English language game, with infinitely more documentation in English than in Russian, it is only natural that you get more clueless English-capable players skormin' about the hearthlands. Typically, they don't know how to play and are easy prey for more organized players. Here's the thing, among well organized players that enjoy PVP the numbers are roughly equal English and Russian players. Typically, Russian language players get involved by gaming communities that are already established, and as such adopt that style of gameplay and skill set. While there are plenty of clueless Russian players, their number pales in comparison to the hoards of those who speak limited or full English and play.

English speaking players are typically smart enough not to give away their identity, as are Russian players. Most of the runes you find are likely not raider runes, but some run of the mill copy. You and your friends have likely had more dealings with ruthless ELPs than you think, and for fun many ELPs that enjoy PVP such as myself typically troll noobs around by claiming to be ruthless Russians.

All that being said, the Russian community is actually very pleasant and I've had no bad dealings with them, ever, even the ones that you hear are the big bad boogie man. They're great players that had their little rivalry with some other major factions fester into something a little more heated over the years. The more you view them as a group of mysterious ruthless murderers the more you're going to hold back your development at Haven and remain a terrible and ignorant player. The fact that you would even ask such a stupid question really brings to light the fact that you probably don't have any idea what you're doing in this game.

ive had ab the same number of issues with english speaking players as i have with russian ones. In general Russians players ive met have been very nice from the noobs asking for help to the top end players who have helped me.

also i notice a lot of players who raid and kill tell others theyre russians even when theyre not, for a laugh
